The new wrestling season is here! As we get underway with practice here at the Forest, the team is doing well and we are excited to have so many new faces joining our program! This year's coaching staff will again be led by David Budlong who is in his second year at the helm. After losing Coach Jimmy Tull to another school in the offseason, the staff has picked up a very familiar face but also added two new ones. Coach Dick Glover is back in the wrestling room this year! After splitting the last couple of years with both Woodberry Forest and Orange County High School, he will be part of our staff on a more permanent basis. We are very excited to have him back in the room and look forward to his positive influence with the wrestlers. Also we have a couple of new coaching faces with the program: Robert Lillard and Nate Carr Jr. Coach Lillard had a very successful career while wrestling at Orange County High School and has spent the last few years working with one of the middle school programs in the area. He has an extensive knowledge of the sport and we are excited to have him with us this upcoming season. Coach Carr had an impressive high school career in Georgia where he was a 3X state champion and then competed collegiately at Iowa State. He is currently working in Charlottesville with Coach Steve Garland and the Wahoos but will be with the Woodberry wrestling program on a weekly basis. Rounding out the coaching staff are Alex Tisch and Todd Jarry. Coach Tisch has been with the program for 3 years and runs a very successful JV program which helps develop our wrestlers, focusing on the fundamentals of the sport. Coach Jarry is now in his second year with the program and also helps out with the young guys during the season. We are very lucky to have both as part of the Woodberry Wrestling staff! Also helping out with this year's team along with the coaching staff is Tori Walker, mother of Brandon Walker class of 2014. Tori's responsibilites will include helping out with the wrestling blog by taking and uploading photos/videos of the wrestling matches. We are very fortunate to have her as part of the wrestling team and we wish to thank her for taking these photos of our wrestlers this past week.
